Haane Manahi (28 September 1913 – 29 March 1986) was a New Zealand Māori soldier who served in the Second World War with the Māori Battalion. He joined the battalion in 1939 and fought in Greece, in Crete and in North Africa. In April 1943, during the Tunisian campaign, his gallantry in an action at Takrouna resulted in a recommendation, supported by four generals, that he be awarded the Victoria Cross (VC). This was downgraded to an award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal, which disappointed many of his fellow soldiers. After his death in a car crash in 1986, representations were made for a posthumous award of the VC for his valour at Takrouna. These representations were unsuccessful but eventually resulted in a special award in 2007 of an altar cloth for use in a local church, a ceremonial sword and a personal letter from Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his gallantry.

Zebras are African equines with black-and-white striped coats and share the genus Equus with horses and asses. Zebras inhabit eastern and southern Africa and can be found in savannahs, grasslands, woodlands, shrublands and mountainous areas. They are primarily grazers, but can subsist on lower-quality vegetation. They are preyed on mainly by lions, typically fleeing when threatened but they may bite and kick. Several theories have been proposed for the function of their stripes, with evidence suggesting they are a form of protection from biting flies. Of the three extant species, Grévy's zebra is endangered, the mountain zebra is vulnerable and the plains zebra (examples pictured) is near-threatened; the quagga, a type of plains zebra, was driven to extinction in the 19th century. Zebras communicate with vocalisations, body postures and facial expressions. Plains and mountain zebras practice social grooming, which strengthens social bonds. Zebras have featured in art and stories in Africa and beyond.

Hitler's prophecy was a statement first made by Adolf Hitler in a speech (pictured) at the Reichstag on 30 January 1939: "If international finance Jewry inside and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, the result will be not the Bolshevization of the earth and thereby the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe". Hitler continued to invoke the prophecy throughout the war and referenced it in his last will and testament, such that the prophecy became a leitmotif of the Final Solution and is the best-known phrase from Hitler's speeches. The historical significance of the prophecy is debated: intentionalists view it as proof of Hitler's previously developed master plan to systematically murder the European Jews, while functionalists argue that "annihilation" was not meant or understood to mean mass murder, at least initially. It is also cited as evidence that Germans were aware that Jews were being exterminated.

The Pyramid of Nyuserre is a pyramid complex built in the 25th century BC for the Egyptian pharaoh Nyuserre Ini of the Fifth Dynasty. It is in the Abusir necropolis south of modern-day Cairo between the complexes of Neferirkare and of Sahure. Nyuserre was the last king to be entombed in the necropolis. The main pyramid, nearly 52 m (171 ft) tall, had a stepped core built from roughly cut limestone encased in fine Tura limestone. The casing was stripped by stone thieves, leaving the core exposed to the elements and further human activity, reducing the pyramid to a ruined mound. Adjoining the pyramid's east face is the mortuary temple built in an L-shape rather than the usual T-shape plan. It introduced the antichambre carrée, an innovative type of room that became a standard feature of later monuments. The site has two structures which appear to have been pylon prototypes. These, too, became staple features of temples and palaces in a later period.

The Guadeloupe amazon (Amazona violacea) is a hypothetical extinct species of parrot that is thought to have been endemic to the Lesser Antillean island region of Guadeloupe. Described by 17th- and 18th-century writers, it is thought to have been related to, or possibly the same as, the extant imperial amazon. A tibiotarsus and an ulna bone from the island of Marie-Galante may belong to the Guadeloupe amazon. According to contemporary descriptions, its head, neck and underparts were mainly violet or slate, mixed with green and black; the back was brownish green; and the wings were green, yellow and red. It had iridescent feathers, and was able to raise a "ruff" of feathers around its neck. It fed on fruits and nuts, and the male and female took turns sitting on the nest. French settlers ate the birds and destroyed their habitat. Rare by 1779, the species appears to have become extinct by the end of the 18th century.

The Holocaust in Slovakia was the systematic dispossession, deportation, and murder of Jews in the Slovak State, a client state of Nazi Germany. Out of 89,000 Jews in the country in 1940, 68,000 to 71,000 were murdered during the Holocaust. In 1939, the ruling ethnonationalist Slovak People's Party declared independence from Czechoslovakia with German protection. Jews were targeted for discrimination and harassment, including the confiscation of property and businesses. On 9 September 1941, the government passed the Jewish Code, which it claimed to be the strictest anti-Jewish law in Europe. In late 1941, the Slovak government negotiated with Nazi Germany for the mass deportation of Jews to German-occupied Poland. Between March and October 1942, 58,000 Jews were deported to Auschwitz concentration camp and the Lublin District; only a few hundred survived. The murder of Jews resumed after August 1944, when Germany invaded Slovakia and another 13,500 Jews were deported.

The history of the British penny (​1⁄240 of a pound sterling) from 1901 to 1970 saw it remain a large bronze coin throughout that time, with the obverse depicting the monarch and the reverse Britannia. The obverse from 1902 to 1910 featured George William de Saulles's depiction of Edward VII, followed by Bertram Mackennal's portrait of George V. No pennies were produced for commerce in 1933, as there were a sufficient number in circulation. At least seven were struck for placement beneath foundation stones and in museums. Edward VIII's short reign is represented only by a single pattern coin, dated 1937. That year, a new obverse design depicting George VI by Humphrey Paget went into use. From 1953, the penny bore Mary Gillick's portrait of Elizabeth II. The officials who planned decimalisation in the 1960s did not favour keeping the large bronze penny. It quickly went out of use after Decimal Day, 15 February 1971, and was demonetised on 31 August 1971.

Rastafari is a religion that developed among impoverished and socially disenfranchised Afro-Jamaican communities in Jamaica during the 1930s. It is both a new religious movement and a social movement. There is no central authority and much diversity among practitioners. Rasta beliefs are based on a specific interpretation of the Bible; a belief in a single God, Jah, who partially resides within each individual, is integral. Rastas accord central importance to Haile Selassie (pictured), Emperor of Ethiopia between 1930 and 1974; many regard him as the Second Coming of Jesus and Jah incarnate; others see him as a human prophet. Rastafari is Afrocentric and focuses on the African diaspora. In the 1960s and 1970s, it gained increased respectability and greater visibility abroad through the popularity of Rasta-inspired reggae musicians, most notably Bob Marley. There are an estimated 700,000 to 1,000,000 Rastas across the world, the majority of whom are of black African descent.

The Francesco Caracciolo-class battleships were a group of four battleships designed for the Royal Italian Navy in 1913 and ordered in 1914. The first ship of the class, Francesco Caracciolo, was laid down in late 1914; the other three ships followed in 1915. Armed with a main battery of eight 381 mm (15 in) guns and possessing a top speed of 28 knots (52 km/h; 32 mph), the four ships were intended to be the equivalent of fast battleships such as the British Queen Elizabeth class. The class was never completed due to material shortages and shifting construction priorities following the outbreak of World War I in 1914. Only the lead ship was launched, in 1920, and several proposals to convert her into an aircraft carrier were considered, but budgetary problems prevented any work being done. She was sold to an Italian shipping firm for conversion into a merchant vessel, but this also proved to be too expensive, and she was broken up for scrap, beginning in 1926.

Gigantorhynchus is a genus of thorny-headed worms that parasitize marsupials, anteaters, and possibly baboons by attaching themselves to the intestines using their hook-covered proboscis. The life cycle includes a larval stage in an intermediate host such as termites. In addition to the proboscis, the body is characterized by pseudosegmentation, filiform lemnisci, and ellipsoid testes. The largest known specimen is a female G. ortizi (example pictured) with a length of around 240 millimetres (9.4 in) and a width of 2 millimetres (0.079 in). Genetic analysis on one species of Gigantorhynchus places it with the related Mediorhynchus genus in the Giganthorhynchidae family. There are six species in this genus distributed across Central and South America and possibly Zimbabwe. Infestation by a Gigantorhynchus species can cause potentially fatal partial obstructions of the intestines or severe lesions of the intestinal wall.

Æthelred I (845 or 848 – 871) was King of Wessex from 865 until his death. He was the fourth of five sons of King Æthelwulf. He succeeded his elder brother Æthelberht and was followed by his youngest brother, Alfred the Great. Æthelred's two infant sons were passed over for the kingship. Æthelred's accession coincided with the arrival of the Viking Great Heathen Army in England. Over the next five years the Vikings conquered Northumbria and East Anglia, before launching a full-scale attack on Wessex in late 870. In early January 871, Æthelred was defeated at the Battle of Reading. Four days later he scored a victory in the Battle of Ashdown, but this was followed by two defeats at Basing and Meretun. He died shortly after Easter. Alfred was forced to buy off the Vikings, but decisively defeated them seven years later. Æthelred's reign was important numismatically, as he adopted the Mercian Lunettes design, creating a unified coinage design for southern England for the first time.

Sixteen grounds have hosted the Wales national football team in international association football competitions. The team played its first match in 1876 against Scotland before hosting its first home match the following year at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, the world's oldest international football ground still in use. The ground hosted all of Wales's matches until 1890. Matches were held in several parts of the country, including Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea, over the following two decades. Ninian Park in Cardiff hosted its first international in 1911, and Vetch Field in Swansea hosted its first in 1921; they shared Wales's home matches with the Racecourse for nearly a century. In 1989 the team began playing at the National Stadium in Cardiff, and in 2000 the Millennium Stadium became the team's new home ground. After a gradual drop in attendance, Cardiff City Stadium (pictured) was designated Wales's permanent home venue. The Racecourse has held more matches (94) than any other venue.

John Neal (1793–1876) was an American writer, critic, editor, lecturer, and activist. He delivered speeches and published essays, novels, poems, and short stories between the 1810s and 1870s. Neal advanced American art, advocated the end of slavery and racial prejudice, and helped establish the American gymnastics movement. The first author to use natural diction, he was also the first to use "son-of-a-bitch" in a work of fiction. He attained his greatest literary achievements between 1817 and 1835 as the first American published in British literary journals, author of the first history of American literature, America's first art critic, and a forerunner of the American Renaissance. One of the first men to advocate women's rights in the US, he affirmed intellectual equality between men and women, fought coverture laws, and demanded equal pay, better education and suffrage for women, declaring "I tell you there is no hope for woman, till she has a hand in making the law".

The Wikipedia article of the day for January 19, 2021 is Alexander II Zabinas.
Alexander II Zabinas (c. 150 BC – 123 BC) was a Seleucid monarch of the Hellenistic period who reigned as King of Syria between 128 BC and 123 BC. Most historians, ancient and modern, maintain that he was a pretender to the throne, although his coinage suggests that he claimed descent from Antiochus IV (died 164 BC), the brother of King Seleucus IV (died 175 BC). Descendants of both brothers were contending for the throne. In 128 BC, King Demetrius II of Syria, the representative of Seleucus IV's line, invaded Egypt to support his mother-in-law Cleopatra II in a civil war. Demetrius was killed while trying to find refuge in the city of Tyre, and Alexander II became the master of the kingdom. Egypt's Ptolemy VIII did not want a strong king on the Syrian throne, and in 124 BC an alliance was established between Egypt and Cleopatra Thea, ruling jointly with Antiochus VIII, her son by Demetrius II. Alexander II was defeated and was probably executed by Antiochus VIII.

Porlock Stone Circle, on Exmoor in the south-western English county of Somerset, is part of a tradition of stone circle construction that spread throughout much of Britain, Ireland, and Brittany during the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age between 3,300 and 900 BCE. The purpose of such monuments is unknown, although archaeologists speculate that the stones represented supernatural entities for the circles' builders. Many monuments were built in Exmoor during the Bronze Age, but the only other surviving stone circle in the area is the one near Withypool. The circle near Porlock is about 24 metres (79 feet) in diameter and has thirteen green micaceous sandstone rocks. Directly to the north-east of the ring is a cairn apparently connected to a linear stone row. A small lead wheel inside the circle suggests that the site was visited during the Romano-British period. The site was rediscovered in the 1920s.

Elizabeth Willing Powel (February 21, 1743 – January 17, 1830) was an American socialite and a prominent member of the Philadelphia upper class of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. After the American Revolutionary War, she established a salon of the Republican Court of leading intellectuals and political figures. She corresponded widely, including with the political elite of the time. A close friend to George Washington, she was among those who convinced him to continue for a second term as president. She wrote extensively, but privately, on a wide range of subjects, including politics, the role of women, medicine, education, and philosophy. Powel is said to be the person who asked Benjamin Franklin "What have we got, a republic or a monarchy?", to which he replied "A republic ... if you can keep it"; over time the role played by Powel in this exchange has been all but removed. Hundreds of her letters and several of her portraits survive.

John C. Breckinridge (January 16, 1821 – May 17, 1875) was an American lawyer, politician, and soldier. He represented Kentucky in both houses of Congress and became the youngest-ever vice president of the United States. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1850 as a Democrat. He served as vice president from 1857 to 1861 alongside President James Buchanan. In 1859, he was elected senator for Kentucky. The Southern Democrats held two rival conventions; one nominated Breckinridge for president, who carried most of the Southern states. With the southern vote split, Abraham Lincoln won the election. Taking his Senate seat, Breckinridge urged compromise. When the Civil War broke out, Breckinridge fled to the Confederacy. He fought in numerous engagements as a general officer. In 1865 he was appointed secretary of war and urged the Confederate president, Jefferson Davis, to arrange a national surrender. After the war he lived abroad, returning in 1869.

The Mercenary War, also known as the Truceless War, was a mutiny by troops employed by Carthage at the end of the First Punic War (264 to 241 BC), backed by an uprising of African settlements against Carthaginian control. The war began in 241 BC as a dispute over wages owed to 20,000 foreign soldiers. It erupted into a full-scale mutiny that included 70,000 Africans from Carthage's oppressed dependent territories, bringing supplies and finance. The Carthaginian general Hamilcar Barca initially demonstrated leniency to woo the rebels over, but pursued the war with great brutality after they tortured 700 Carthaginian prisoners to death. It ended in late 238 or early 237 BC with a Carthaginian victory. An expedition was then prepared to reoccupy Sardinia, where all Carthaginians had been killed. James Hagerstrom (January 14, 1921 – June 25, 1994) was a fighter ace of the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) in World War II and the U.S. Air Force (USAF) in the Korean War. He is one of seven American pilots to have achieved ace status in two different wars. Hagerstrom joined the USAAF in 1941, and fought in the New Guinea campaign of World War II. There he shot down six Japanese aircraft, including four in one morning. After the war, he joined the Texas Air National Guard and participated in several air races. By 1950 he was in command of the 111th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, which was deployed to Korea during the Korean War. He transferred to the USAF and flew an F-86 Sabre jet in "MiG Alley", the area around the northern border of North Korea with China, destroying 8.5 Chinese, Soviet, and North Korean MiG-15s. In 1965, he served in several command roles during the Vietnam War while flying 30 combat missions. Hagerstrom died in Shreveport of stomach cancer in 1994.

The Wikipedia article of the day for January 13, 2021 is York City War Memorial.
The York City War Memorial is a First World War memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and located in York, in the north of England. A public meeting in January 1920 to decide how to commemorate York's war dead opted for a monument, over a more utilitarian memorial. Lutyens was engaged, and his first design was approved, but it was perceived to clash with York's existing architecture, and the proposed site was abandoned in favour of one just outside the city walls. Lutyens submitted a new design, of a war cross and stone of remembrance, that was scaled back to the cross alone due to lack of funds. Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), unveiled the memorial on 25 June 1925. It consists of a stone cross 33 feet (10 metres) high on three stone blocks and a stone base, mounted on two further blocks and two shallow steps. It sits in a memorial garden, with an entrance designed by Lutyens. The memorial itself is a Grade II* listed building.

The Wikipedia article of the day for January 12, 2021 is Hurricane Alex (2016).
Hurricane Alex in 2016 was the first Atlantic hurricane in January since Alice in 1955. Alex originated as a non-tropical low near the Bahamas on January 7. It briefly acquired hurricane-force winds on January 10, then weakened slightly before acquiring more tropical weather characteristics. The system transitioned into a subtropical cyclone on January 12 well south of the Azores, becoming the first North Atlantic tropical or subtropical cyclone in January since Tropical Storm Zeta of 2006. Alex transitioned into a fully tropical cyclone on January 14. It peaked in strength as a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir–Simpson scale with reported maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 km/h) and a central pressure of 981 mbar (hPa; 28.97 inHg). Alex weakened to a high-end tropical storm before making landfall on Terceira Island on January 15. After leaving the Azores, it reverted to a non-tropical cyclone.

पाकिस्तान से आई मूक बधिर गीता जल्द ही महाराष्ट्र को अपना घर बना सकती है। उसे रविवार सुबह अस्थायी रूप से परभणी भेजा गया है। गीता वहां एक संस्थान में आत्मनिर्भर बनने का प्रशिक्षण लेगी। गीता के पुनर्वास में मुंबई के टाटा इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ सोशल साइंस के विशेषज्ञों की भी मदद ली जा रही है। गौरतलब है कि गीता को 26 अक्टूबर 2015 को इंदौर लाया गया था। पूर्व विदेश मंत्री स्व. सुषमा स्वराज की पहल पर उसे पाकिस्तान से भारत लाया गया था। गीता को इंदौर के मूक-बधिर संगठन में अस्थायी आश्रय दिया था। गीता के माता-पिता मिलने तक उसे यहीं रहना था। 20 जुलाई को जिला प्रशासन ने गीता को इंदौर की ही दूसरी संस्था आनंद सर्विस सोसायटी को सौंपा था।

आनंद सर्विस सोसायटी के ज्ञानेंद्र पुरोहित ने बताया, परभणी के वाघमारे परिवार ने उसे अपनी बेटी होने का दावा किया है। उन्होंने उसके गुमने को लेकर जो तथ्य बताए हैं, वे काफी मिलते जुलते हैं, इसलिए जल्द ही परिवार और गीता का डीएनए मिलाया जाएगा। फिलहाल उसे वहीं आत्मनिर्भर बनाने की कोशिश की जाएगी। इसमें परभणी के पहल फाउंडेशन ने उसकी मदद करने की सहमति जताई है।

इंश्योरेंस कंपनी की दलील- लापरवाही से गाड़ी चलाई, कोर्ट ने खारिज कर 95 लाख देने के आदेश दिए

ड्यूटी पर जा रहे एक पुलिसकर्मी की दुर्घटना में मौत के बाद परिवार लाचार हो गया। परिवार में वह कमाई का इकलौता जरिया था। गुजर-बसर के लिए परिजन ने जिला एवं सत्र न्यायालय ने मुआवजा दिए जाने के लिए परिवाद दायर किया। कोर्ट ने बीमा कंपनी को आदेश दिए कि वह 95 लाख का भुगतान करे। परिजन के अधिवक्ता राजेश खंडेलवाल के मुताबिक पुलिसकर्मी जितेंद्र सेन का 12-13 अगस्त 2018 की दरमियानी रात को एक्सीडेंट हो गया था। वह बाइक से ड्यूटी पर जा रहे थे, तभी उन्हें एक ट्रक ने टक्कर मार दी और मौके पर ही मौत हो गई।

बीमा कंपनी ने परिवाद पर जवाब दिया कि कंपनी की कोई जिम्मेदारी नहीं बनती। जितेंद्र लापरवाही से बाइक चला रहे थे। उन्हें ट्रक आता दिख रहा था। फिर भी बाइक की गति कम नहीं की, ना ही संभलने की कोशिश की। परिजन ने बाइक की बीमा कंपनी को भी पक्षकार नहीं बनाया। कोर्ट ने दोनों पक्षों को सुनने के बाद परिजन के पक्ष में फैसला दिया। कोर्ट ने कहा कि कुल राशि का 40% पत्नी वीणा, 20% बेटे और 30% बेटी को, जितेंद्र के माता-पिता को 5-5% राशि दी जाए।

नए साल के दूसरे रविवार मांडू में बढ़े पर्यटक; 20 हजार से ज्यादा लोग पहुंचे

नववर्ष के दूसरे रविवार मांडू का पर्यटन फिर से लौटता दिखा। पहले रविवार की तुलना में दूसरे रविवार काे पर्यटकों का आंकड़ा बड़ा। 20 हजार से ज्यादा पर्यटकाें ने स्मारकाें का भ्रमण किया। एक दिन पूर्व हुई बारिश के बाद से काेहरा छाने के साथ प्राकृतिक साैंदर्य भी खिल उठा। सुबह काकड़ा खो से शुरू हुई आवाजाही शाम तक रही।

दोपहर में तो ऐसा लगा मानो मांडू में पर्यटकों का मेला लगा हाे। इंदाैर के नवदंपती ने जहाज महल परिसर में घूमकर सेल्फी ली। बच्चे जहाज महल परिसर में लगी प्राचीन तोपों पर मस्ती करते नजर आए।

बाघों के बाद अब पहली बार शावक संग कैमरे में कैद तेंदुआ मां

प्रदेश को तेंदुआ स्टेट का दर्जा मिलने के बाद भोपाल के जंगल से भी खुशखबरी आई है। यहां पर बाघ के बाद पहली बार तेंदुआ मां अपने शावक के साथ दिखी है। यहां पर अभी तक तेंदुए अपनी उपस्थिति तो दर्ज कराते रहे हैं, लेकिन कभी भी ई-सर्विलांस और ट्रैप कैमरों में कैप्चर नहीं हुए थे।

भोपाल से 10 किमी दूर गोल बीट में एक मादा तेंदुआ अपने शावक के साथ ट्रैप कैमरे में कैप्चर हुई है। कलियासोत और केरवा के आसपास अभी तक बाघों व शावकों का दबदबा रहा है। अब यहां पर तेंदुओं ने भी अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज करना शुरू कर दी है।

वन अधिकारियों का कहना है कि तेंदुए को कैमरे में कैप्चर करना बहुत मुश्किल है। वह भी ऐसे जंगल में जहां पर वन कर्मचारियों तक का जाना प्रतिबंधित है। वन अधिकारियों का कहना है कि पहली बार मादा तेंदुआ और एक शावक ट्रैप कैमरे में कैप्चर हुआ है। यहां पर अत्याधुनिक ई-सर्विलांस लगा है। वहीं रातापानी में तकरीबन 250 कैमरे लगाए गए हैं, लेकिन अभी तक तेंदुआ व शावक एक साथ कैमरे में कैद नहीं हुए हैं।

शिकार के चक्कर में कई बार शहर के अंदर तक आ जाते हैं तेंदुए

अधिकारियों का कहना है कि भोपाल और उसके आसपास तकरीबन 70 तेंदुओं का मूवमेंट है। ये तेंदुए शिकार के चक्कर में कई बार शहर के अंदर तक आ जाते हैं। 2019 में तो स्वर्ण जयंती पार्क, त्रिलंगा तक तेंदुआ पहुंच गया था। ऐसे ही बोट क्लब, मानव संग्रहालय तक भी तेंदुआ पहुंच चुका है।

शावक पार नहीं कर पाए फेंसिंग बाघिन की दहाड़ से थर्राया इलाका

हाल ही में कलियासोत डैम के पास घूम रही बाघिन अब बड़े हो रहे शावकों को चेनलिंक फेंसिंग पार करना सिखा रही है। वन अधिकारियों ने बताया कि फेंसिंग को बाघिन ने तो पार कर लिया था, लेकिन बच्चे नहीं कर पाए। इसके बाद तो बाघिन ने दहाड़ना शुरू किया तो पूरा इलाका थर्रा गया था।

आत्मनिर्भर मध्यप्रदेश की होगी बजट में झलक, विभागों से 24 तक मांगे सुझाव

प्रदेश के वर्ष 2021-22 के बजट में आत्मनिर्भर मध्यप्रदेश की झलक होगी। वित्त विभाग ने इसे लेकर 24 जनवरी तक विभागों से सुझाव मांगे हैं। इसमें उन्हें सालभर में आत्मनिर्भर मध्यप्रदेश की दिशा में किए जाने वाले कामों में आने वाले खर्च की जानकारी देना है।

वित्त मंत्री जगदीश देवड़ा का कहना है कि प्रदेश की वित्तीय स्थिति सुधर रही है। आत्मनिर्भर थीम पर शुरू होने वाली किसी भी योजना में पैसे की कमी नहीं आने दी जाएगी। इस साल के बजट प्रावधानों में 10 से 12% तक वृद्धि होने के आसार हैं। यानी बजट में 2 लाख 25 हजार करोड़ का बजट होगा।

चालू वित्तीय वर्ष यानी 2020-21 के बजट में 2019-2020 की तुलना में करीब 28 हजार करोड़ की कमी आई थी। बजट में सिर्फ सड़कों की मरम्मत के लिए राशि दी गई थी। नई सड़कों के विकास नहीं हो पाए थे। वर्ष 2021-2022 के आगामी बजट में पंचायत एवं ग्रामीण विकास विभाग द्वारा ग्राम जनपद और जिला स्तर पर दीनदयाल समितियां गठित किए जाने का खाका तैयार किया जा रहा है।

साथ ही महिला सशक्तिकरण को स्वदेशी वस्तुओं की बिक्री को प्रोत्साहन देते हुए बढ़ावा दिया जाएगा। ये काम महिला स्वसहायता समूहों को सौंपे जाएंगे। इसके लिए हर एक क्षेत्र में आधुनिक टेक्नलॉजी का हर क्षेत्र में व्यापक उपयोग किया जाएगा। कृषि विभाग के द्वारा खेती में आधुनिक ढंग से उत्पादन और उत्पादकता बढ़ाकर खेती को लाभ का धंधा बनाया जाने की दिशा में योजना पर काम किया जा रहा है।

सभी मैरिज गार्डनों को तीन महीने में नए सिरे से कराना होगा रजिस्ट्रेशन

मैरिज गार्डन संचालकों को अब अगले तीन महीने में नए सिरे से अपना रजिस्ट्रेशन कराना होगा। उन्हें अपने कुल एरिया का कम से कम 25 फीसदी पार्किंग के लिए आरक्षित रखना होगा। जिस स्थान पर 50 लोग से ज्यादा इकट्‌ठा होकर कोई समारोह कर सकते हैं, उसे मैरिज गार्डन की श्रेणी में रखा जाएगा। कॉलोनियों के बीच स्थित सार्वजनिक पार्क में कोई भी शादी या समारोह आयोजित नहीं किया जा सकेगा।

यह प्रावधान मैरिज गार्डन के लिए बने नए नियमों में किए गए हैं।नगरीय प्रशासन ने पूरे प्रदेश में यह नियम लागू कर दिए हैं। अभी तक विभाग ने इसके लिए अलग से कोई नियम नहीं बनाए थे। उज्जैन नगर निगम ने अपने स्तर पर इसके नियम बना रखे थे।

मैरिज गार्डनों के लिए नियम का मामला हाईकोर्ट में भी गया था। हाईकोर्ट के निर्देश के बाद नगरीय प्रशासन ने उज्जैन के ही नियम प्रदेश में लागू कर रखे थे। अब इसमें सुधार कर उन्हें लागू किया है। इसकी अधिसूचना जारी कर दी गई है। जिन मैरिज गार्डनों ने अगले 3 महीने में रजिस्ट्रेशन नहीं कराया तो निकाय उन्हें अवैध घोषित कर हटा देगा और अदालती कार्यवाही भी करेगा।

क्षेत्रफल के अनुसार एक हजार से साढ़े 12 हजार रुपए तक देना होगा पंजीयन शुल्क

मैरिज गार्डन को निकाय में रजिस्ट्रेशन कराना होगा। इसमें पार्किंग, साफ-सफाई, सुरक्षा, अग्निशमन, क्षमता आदि की जानकारी देना होगी। निकाय व क्षेत्रफल के अनुसार उन्हें एक हजार से साढ़े 12 हजार रुपए तक पंजीयन शुल्क देना होगा। इसके साथ ही हर साल 750 से 10 हजार रुपए उपभोक्ता शुल्क भी भरना पड़ेगा। हर तीन साल में रजिस्ट्रेशन का नवीनीकरण कराना होगा। नियमों का उल्लंघन करने पर 10 हजार रुपए तक जुर्माना लगेगा।

स्कूल-कॉलेज, अस्पताल से 100 मीटर की दूरी पर होना चाहिए मैरिज गार्डन

मैरिज गार्डन के आसपास कोई स्कूल-कॉलेज या अस्पताल नहीं होना चाहिए। इसके लिए 100 मीटर की दूरी तय की गई है। गार्डन में रात 10 से सुबह 8 बजे तक ध्वनि विस्तारक यंत्रों का उपयोग नहीं होगा। विकास समिति, गृह निर्माण समिति आदि द्वारा सार्वजनिक पार्क स्थान के लिए चिह्नित स्थानों का उपयोग शादी समारोह के लिए नहीं हो सकेगा। इसके लिए लाइसेंस नहीं दिया जाएगा।

किसे मानेंगे मैरिज गार्डन

निकाय सीमा में 50 लोगों से ज्यादा एकत्रित होने की क्षमता रखने वाले स्थानों को मैरिज गार्डन की श्रेणी में रखा गया है। इसमें होटल, प्लॉट, फार्म, सामुदायिक केंद्र, भवन, क्लब, बैंक्वेट हॉल, धर्मशाला आदि शामिल हैं, जिनका उपयोग शादी, सगाई, जन्मदिन, उत्सव, प्रदर्शनी, कन्वेंशन, गरबा, नववर्ष आदि समारोह के लिए किया जाता है।

भारत बायाेटेक की काेवैक्सीन के तीसरे चरण के क्लीनिकनल ट्रायल में पीपुल्स मेडिकल काॅलेज में ट्रायल वैक्सीन का पहला डाेज लगवाने वाले 2 वॉलेंटियर्स की रिपाेर्ट काेविड पाॅजिटिव आई है।

इसके चलते इन वॉलेंटियर्स के नाम काॅलेज प्रबंधन ने वैक्सीन का दूसरा डाेज लगवाने वाले वॉलेंटियर्स की लिस्ट से हटा दिए हैं। संबंधित वॉलेंटियर्स, ट्रायल वैक्सीन का पहला डाेज लगाने के ठीक पहले लिए गए सैंपल का आरटीपीसीआर तकनीक से हुए काेविड टेस्ट में पाॅजिटिव निकले हैं। इसकी पुष्टि पीपुल्स मेडिकल काॅलेज के एक सीनियर डाॅक्टर ने नाम नहीं छापने की शर्त पर की है।

ट्रायल गाइडलाइन का उल्लंघन करने का आराेप

रविवार काे गैस पीड़िताें के संगठन भाेपाल ग्रुप फाॅर इनफॉर्मेशन एंड एक्शन की रचना ढीगरा ने वॉलेंटियर्स के साथ वर्चुअल कॉन्फ्रेंस की। इसमें उन्हाेंने पीपुल्स मेडिकल काॅलेज प्रबंधन पर ट्रायल गाइडलाइन का उल्लंघन करने का आराेप लगाया है। काॅलेज डीन डाॅ. अनिल दीक्षित ने सभी आरोपों को खारिज किया है।

ट्रायल का तरीका गलत, सही जानकारी नहीं दी

वैक्सीन ट्रायल का तरीका गलत है। लोगों को न तो सही जानकारी दी है और न ही उसके प्रतिकूल प्रभाव के बारे में बताया जा रहा है। इसी कारण एक व्यक्ति की मौत हो गई और अस्पताल प्रबंधन ने सुध भी नहीं ली। एक ही क्षेत्र के गरीब लोगों को ट्रायल में शामिल कर लिया।

हर व्यक्ति की ट्रायल से पहले काउंसलिंग की गई

हर व्यक्ति की ट्रायल में शामिल होने के पहले काउंसलिंग की गई थी। जबरन किसी को शामिल नहीं किया। 1700 से ज्यादा लोग शामिल हुए। जिन्हें तकलीफ हुई, उनका फाॅलोअप भी किया और आगे भी किया जाएगा। लोग घबराएं नहीं। वैक्सीन से किसी की मौत नहीं हुई है।

टीम ने बुलाया, बाहर की दवा लिखकर घर भेज दिया

ट्रायल वैक्सीन लगवाने वाले छाेटू दास ने बताया कि टीका लगने के 3 दिन बाद क्लीनिकल ट्रायल टीम के एक सदस्य ने जांच रिपाेर्ट काेविड पाॅजिटिव हाेना बताया। साथ ही इलाज के लिए अस्पताल बुलवाया, जहां पर्चे पर अस्पताल के बाहर प्राइवेट स्टाेर्स पर मिलने वाली दवाएं लिखकर घर भेज दिया।

जबकि ट्रायल गाइडलाइन के अनुसार जांच से लेकर इलाज तक का जिम्मा काॅलेज प्रबंधन का था। बकाैल छाेटू दास, अस्पताल प्रबंधन ने सेहत दुरूस्त हाेने पर बुलावाया और वीडियाे बनाने की काेशिश की। प्रबंधन चाहता था कि वह जांच, इलाज व जरूरी दवाएं मुहैया कराए जाने का बयान दे।

3 हजार करोड़ के ई-टेंडर घोटाले की जांच में जुटे ईडी का अब भोपाल में होगा ऑफिस

प्रदेश में तीन हजार करोड़ के ई-टेंडर घोटाले की जांच तेज करने के साथ प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) की सक्रियता बढ़ गई है। ईडी तीन से चार ब्लैक मनी और मनी लान्ड्रिंग की अलग-अलग शिकायतों की प्रारंभिक जांच शुरू करने के बाद भोपाल में अपना उप कार्यालय खोलने की तैयारी में है। अभी ईडी अफसरों की टीम इंदौर से जांच के लिए पहुंचती है, लेकिन भोपाल में दफ्तर होने से कुछ क्षेत्रीय अफसर यहीं बैठ पाएंगे। इससे ईडी को नियमित कामकाज में आने वाली अड़चनें भी दूर हो जाएगी।

प्रदेश में अभी एकमात्र इंदौर में ईडी का क्षेत्रीय उप कार्यालय है। ई-टेंडर घोटाले के अलावा ईडी मनी लान्ड्रिंग और बेनामी संपत्ति को लेकर एक आईएएस और आईपीएस के खिलाफ शिकायतें मिलने के बाद प्रारंभिक जांच में जुटी हुई है। ईडी अफसरों को भोपाल में मैदानी काम करना पड़ रहा है, जिसके चलते यहां उप कार्यालय खोलने के लिए फैसला लिया गया है।

ईडी अफसर अपने स्तर पर दो से तीन स्थानों पर उप कार्यालय के लिए जगह देख चुके है। इसके बाद गृह विभाग से कार्यालय के लिए संपर्क किया गया है। ईडी एमपी नगर और होशंगाबाद रोड पर किसी स्थान पर कार्यालय खोलना चाहती है। सीबीआई को व्यापमं घोटाले की जांच करने के दौरान राज्य शासन ने भोपाल में दो कार्यालय की जगह उपलब्ध कराई थी।

अब जिले में ही होगी उत्तर पुस्तिकाओं की जांच

माध्यमिक शिक्षा मंडल की 10वीं व 12वीं बोर्ड की परीक्षाओं की उत्तर पुस्तिकाओं की जांच जिलास्तर पर ही होगी। उत्तर पुस्तिकाएं जंचने अन्य जिले में नहीं जाएगी। यही नहीं, जिस विषय का प्रश्नपत्र होगा उसके दूसरे ही दिन से उत्तर पुस्तिकाओं का मूल्यांकन भी शुरू हो जाएगा।
ऐसे में परीक्षा परिणाम भी जल्दी आएगा। अब बोर्ड परीक्षा में कम नंबर आने पर विद्यार्थी उत्तर पुस्तिकाओं का पुनर्मूल्यांकन भी करा सकेंगे। अभी तक केवल पुनर्गणना के लिए ही आवेदन किया जाता था। पुनर्मूल्यांकन के लिए परीक्षार्थियों को अधिकतम 100 रु का शुल्क चुकाना होगा।

अपनी जाति छुपाकर पहचान और फिर दुष्कर्म, मामला दर्ज

नीलकंठ निवासी महिला से करीब एक साल से पहचान कर आरोपी शादी का झांसा देकर दुष्कर्म कर रहा था। महिला को उसकी जाति का पता चलने पर उसने जान से मारने की धमकी दी। महिला ने थाने पहुंचकर रिपोर्ट दर्ज कराई है। पुलिस ने बलात्कार और जान से मारने की धमकी का मामला दर्ज कर लिया है। नीलकंठ निवासी 39 वर्षीय विधवा महिला की पहचान एक साल पहले सुकरवास निवासी वहीद से हुई थी। वहीद ने शादी का झांसा देकर पिछले एक साल तक दुष्कर्म किया। वह महिला हो अपने घर सुकरवास भी लेकर गया। । 25 दिसंबर को वहीद नीलकंठ महिला के घर गया। तब उसके कागजात के अनुसार वह पिंजारा मुसलमान निकला। महिला ने विरोध किया तो वहीद ने उसे किसी को बताने पर जान से मारने की धमकी दी। डरी सहमी महिला ने कुछ दिन बाद पड़ोसी महिला को बताया।
